My Love Affair with Another of Seattle's Funky Little Food Spots

How I love that feeling you get when you discover
a new spot that tickles your senses and inspires
your imagination. That place you want to make
your hang-out, whether it's for a perfect dry cappuccino
in the morning, or a meet-up with your pals for
a drink and scrumptious nibbles.  That's how I
felt when I walked into Capitol Hill's Oddfellows.

My daughter knows me so well.
She and her boyfriend knew exactly what they were doing
when they took me here for brunch last weekend....

Century-old building, big space, high ceilings, brick walls,
light-filled floor-to-ceiling windows, salvaged and repurposed
furniture, surfaces and fixtures.

And the FOOD.

Fresh, warm beignets and jam...
(they'll give any apple fritter a run for its money).

Baked eggs with spinach, and avocado toasts,

 homemade biscuits/eggs/bacon.
Next time I'm coming to try the evening fare.

Or I might just come hang out with my laptop to while away a rainy day.

Aww...and an antique typewriter in the window! : )

Really love this place.  And it sits right next door to
another fave, Elliott Bay Book Co.
I just hate that it lives 800 miles away from me.

  1. Whoa! What a warm and cozy spot. I understand the love affair. Yes, perfect for taking shelter from the rain, or an afternoon beer/wine (any local micro brews on tap?), or Sunday morning breakfast. Hell, I could spend the whole day there: )

Fun name too. I've always wondered what an "Odd Fellows" meeting would have been like. I imagine very fun: )

    Love your blog,

  2. You can't go wrong with a name like Oddfellows, right? Your comment has convinced me to go back for a cozy day of libations...they have a half dozen micro brews on tap (not to mention some clever cocktails). Until then, I will comb my neck of the woods for a place like this (and blog about it : )

    Happy exploring!

  3. The beignets look amazing. They remind me of a unique donut maker in Oakland. You can see video and photos at http://www.doughnutdolly.com/site/page/home. Owner Hannah's inspiration to take donuts to a new level came from WWI. I would be surprised if she hasn't made a few beignets in her time. I wonder if she has considered offering micro brews too: )

Really like the places you find with so much character and charm.

Looking forward to your next post.

  4. Thanks for the great link! Think I'm going to have to make a trek out to Oakland very soon and try a Doughnut Dolly fritter for myself : ) Plus, I hear there's some great hiking in those hills - might need that after a jelly-filled.

Really enjoy your feedback, thanks for taking the time!
